What is GBIS?

The Great British Insulation Scheme or GBIS, is a new energy efficiency scheme focused on single insulation measures with an element of energy efficient heating controls.

The scheme has a broader criteria for eligibility by introducing eligibility by Council tax band A-D which forms the General Eligibility Group. As well as households with an income of under £31,000 being eligible as the Low-Income Group. Customers who fall within the Low-Income Group may also be eligible to receive energy efficient heating controls as well as an insulation measure.

GBIS will run alongside other schemes such as ECO4 until 2026 and is aiming to support around 300,000 households in becoming more energy efficient.

There are two eligibility routes for GBIS, the general group, or the low-income group;

General Group - Council Tax band A-D (A-E in Scotland & Wales)
AND
EPC rating of D-G

Low-Income Group
Household Income below £31,000 per year
OR
In receipt of an eligible benefit AND
EPC Rating or D-G

Proving Eligibility

General Group
We will need your most recent Council Tax bill to prove the Council Tax Band of the property
Low-Income Group

Or for households with an income below £31,000 we will need evidence such as P60's, Bank Statements or payslips. Every situation is different so we will discuss specific evidence with you once the survey is complete.
